Bits + Pieces
Various Projects
This page is dedicated to projects that may not warrant a full case study, but still have a place in my heart.
Cool Pools
Project: Mural Painting + Campaign
Client: NYC Parks
Year: 2018 + 2019
NYC Parks initiative selected one pool from each of the five Boroughs that needed the most love. These upgrades were part of a broader effort to promote equity and provide welcoming environments for all New Yorkers. Selected pools received updates to the facilities, new furniture, and a series of murals designed by our team.
I helped out in the first and second run of the program, providing all of the stencil work as well as the production of print and cloroplast pieces in six pools Wagner Pool (Harlem), Dry Dock Pool (Lower East Side), Liberty Pool (Queens), Claremont (Bronx), Commodore Barry Pool in (Brooklyn), Tottenville Pool (Staten Island).
Because of this project, I was allowed to drive a decommissioned NYC Parks Enforcement Ford E350 van complete with (nonfunctioning) lights and sirens. If you ever need someone to drive a massive vehicle in every manner of city driving I’m your man.
Best NY Shirt
Client: Drama Club, NYC
Project: Apparel Design
Year: 2020
Models: Mary and Mike Park
Just because I love you all, doesn’t mean I like you all. Originally created as a submission to New York Nico’s #BestNYShirt Contest, my design was produced by the Brooklyn-based boutique Drama Club with all proceeds going to God’s Love We Deliver and The Campaign Against Hunger.
Wyclef Jean, Sofar Sounds
Client: Sofar Sounds
Project: Poster
Year: 2017
ONE TIME. Poster designed for Wyclef’s Sofar Sounds performance in NYC. After listening to the artists and it being September, I wanted to try to capture the bittersweet feeling of the end of summer.
NYC Parks Rockaway Beach Campaign
Client: NYC Parks
Project: Illustration + Campaign
Year: 2018
Campaign to promote Rockaway Beach following the closure of ½ mile of the park. The campaign focused on the beach’s accessibility as well as the diverse activities other than swimming and lounging. One of the challenges was avoiding any mention or depiction of swimming or sand! Ads were displayed on LinkNYC kiosks, MTA digital terminals, and NYC Parks informational pages.
As long as I’ve lived in NYC I’ve been fascinated by seeing the people riding the subway decked out with all their beach paraphernalia. From there I illustrated the same happening in the other ways New Yorkers like to get around.
